Great Badic Course

I loved all the lessons from Liz . She explained the basic bridge game extremely well . The revision each week was very beneficial . We built our knowledge step by step . Liz has a great sense of humour and explains everything clearly . I enjoyed all the lessons … the two hours went by so quickly . The revision notes are very helpful as well .
Thank you to Fiona too … you were both very welcoming every week and I liked the idea of moving around each week .

I like bridge now

I was invited on a very short notice to join the initial learning sessions – I at no point in my life had considered learning or playing bridge. But I thoroughly enjoyed the sessions because Liz was an excellent teacher, and learning was actually a joy. Thank you, Liz for lighting the ‘bridge-fire’ in me 🙂

Fun and Learning

The 6 Beginner Bridge lesson course given by Liz Wilkinson , was friendly , fun , concise and has given me inspiration to re-kindle learning this intriguing game .
Liz’s passion for Bridge is infectious and she made the sessions both entertaining and informative .
It was a perfect opportunity to start the journey of unravelling the mysteries of bidding conventions and play , and highly recommend this course . I look forward to continuing with the next series .

A great way to start bridge

i thought the course was well presented and well run. The pacing of new information was just right. There was plenty of repetition for beginners and the bridge hands matched the information we were given.
There was a welcoming inclusive atmosphere.

Learn to Play Bridge

Well.. I was not expecting all the drama, suspense and excitement that comes with Liz Wilkinson’s introduction to bridge lessons. Very engaging and informative would be my summary. The notes and practice sessions are outstanding.

Great Introduction

Liz Wilkinson is fabulous – the course is well paced with enough revision to ensure you capture the concepts while recognising that there is still lots to learn. Liz makes it interesting and injects humour into the sessions. Supporting notes and practice sessions are also very useful.

Excellent start

These lessons are pitch perfect for beginners. They are in such a friendly non competitive way. They were a delight to attend.
Our only issue has been that we missed lessons because we were travelling and I would really like some means of filling the gaps. (This is probably our problem though!) Liz a wonderful teacher.

A brilliant teacher!

I was a complete novice when I began these lessons.
So… I could not have asked for a better and more enthusiastically competent teacher than Liz Wilkinson.
She has magnificent skills to carefully and systematically introduce the game, and its components, adding a sense of humour along the way.
It was all overwhelming in the beginning but has started to come together.
At the end of 6 lessons I know I still have a long way to go, however, thanks to Liz and the others I have played with, I feel more confident to
grasp the skills of bidding and playing. I am looking forward to the following weeks of learning.

Beginner Bridge

Thoroughly enjoyed the online beginner bridge course. I watched it online on Monday evenings and could pause it whenever I chose, or re-watch as often as I needed. Anita was an excellent tutor….patient, knowledgeable and fun. Her passion for the game was evident. I also enjoyed the Wednesday evening supervised practice sessions, where we bumbled around with our course notes, helping one another with our bids, and relying on John the supervisor to assist where needed. I’m signed up for the follow-up course, and would have no hesitation in recommending the beginner one to anyone looking to learn bridge

This course was very well

This course was very well prepared. The presentation was outstanding. It was the right speed and scope.

I felt very comfortable to follow the basic rules of this game. I loved the tactics Liz explained and recommended. I also found it very beneficial to have the practice sessions after the weekly classes.

The only suggestion I have is to have a smaller number of people attending the course.

I will continue with the course a little bit later because I am in the process of retiring and I have to do lots of work including Saturday.

Super impressed with the teacher Liz Wilkinson who was also ably assisted by Kay and Ann.

Liz was one of the best teachers I have ever observed in my 70 years. Just superb, and fun too.

The follow up emails with notes and game hands were also well worthwhile as was my attendance at most of the Thursday morning practice sessions.

Learning to play Bridge from Scratch

My wife has enjoyed learning Bridge for a year and one of my close friends has been playing for two years and is now playing regularly at the NSBC, in the Rookies, each week.

It was suggested I come to beginning Bridge lessons a few years ago but due to lot on the agenda I chose to defer starting. I am now attending with my golfing buddy and we have both enjoyed Liz Wilkinson’s six introductory lessons.

We have now joined the NSBC and are continuing our lessons with Liz and learning new things every week, as well as having past lessons reinforced.

Bridge is a complicated and challenging game where I can foresee no end to the learning process.

Liz has managed to make the introduction to Bridge enjoyable and fun and I thoroughly recommend attending her lessons to see if Bridge is a good fit for you.

Wonderful teacher

I found this course, run by Liz Wilkinson, highly successful. Liz explains and exemplifies concepts extremely clearly and reinforces learning with in-built revision and practice opportunities at each lesson. At the age of 81, I found the format non-threatening and conducive to learning in a pleasant social setting. The course itself was very structured and the associated notes very instructive. I want to follow up with the Bridge Basics 10-week course to increase my understanding of the game and hopefully build on what I have already learnt.

A deft hand

Though not a complete beginner, I really appreciated Liz’s patient and very logical approach to introducing us to the game of Bridge. Mixing with different people from week to week, and being able to practice what we had learned was great reinforcement of each lesson.

I have just completed the 6 week course with Liz Wilkinson (and continuing on) and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. A Bridge never too far!

I have so enjoyed the Bridge Lessons and Sessions put on by Liz and Fiona at North Shore Bridge Club. They are both so warm and welcoming!
The pace of the lessons is really good. There’s so much to learn and to Liz has been incredibly patient in teaching new rules and techniques as well as answering the many requests to repeat them! For Liz, there are no question is a silly question.
Whilst initially I felt somewhat daunted by the prospect of learning such a challenging game, but with Liz and Fiona’s patience and encouragement, I don’t feel quite as silly and I’m hooked!!
Thank you for a fantastic experience, and I shall aspire to playing against both in the future!!

I had initially been disappointed not be able to attend face to face Bridge classes, with online being my only option, but I have found the online classes to be highly interactive and very well organised.

Being able to replay the lessons has been a huge help, as has the many practice sessions. I can highly recommend online Bridge classes as a great way to learn bridge!

A GREAT START ! at last I have a hook into Bridge

I have just completed the six week beginners class with Liz. I so enjoyed every lesson she made it great fun, albeit its super complicated and so much to learn. Just a start but I am enthused enough to continue and determined to master this tricky game. I loved the venue, the Lindfield Bowling Club.

I couldn’t have hoped for a better course to understand Bridge. Garry is a perfect teacher. He obviously knows his stuff, but beyond that he is approachable, has infinite amounts of patience, and a sense of humor – all of which have helped me to understand the complexities of Bridge without being scared off.

I found the Introduction to Bridge course excellent. I found the structured lessons and pre dealt hands a great way to gain an understanding of the intricacies of Bridge. Liz was an excellent instructor and very patient and was ably supported by Fiona. the course notes and other handouts were useful. While I have played card games that include trumps and trick taking, I think this course would be suitable for someone with limited experience with cards.

I am really pleased I booked myself into this course and look forward to continuing my Bridge journey in 2024.

A Great Teacher

As a retired educator myself I was most impressed by the methodology used by Liz. She revises, introduces new material and lets you practice in each session.
Liz is also patient and warm in her dealings with people and adds humour to lessen the tension learners may be feeling.

I recently completed the six week introduction to bridge basics . A great way to get into a somewhat complicated but interesting game. Now for the next 10 week course where all will become clear hopefully.

A comprehensive introductory program with a fun perspective

I have really enjoyed Liz’s approach to teaching Bridge. I’m hooked. Stats, sense of humour and repetition all make learning the game a most enjoyable and mind-stretching experience.

Very informative – and fun

Wow did we cover a lot of ground. With a good knowledge of various card games, bridge was completely new to me. I learnt so much as the lessons and notes were well structured, concise and well thought out and I feel that those with no or little card experience learnt as much as I did. The lessons were also fun and a great way to get to know other card loving enthusiasts. I shall be continuing – I’m hooked!

Learn to play bridge

This is an excellent 6 week introduction to bridge. I think it helps if you have played cards before , but the tutors are excellent and repeat everything, many times, so it eventually sticks! The Thursday follow up practice is, for me, the best part. It puts into practice what you have learnt 2 days before and is a worthwhile commitment to learning to play.
A lovely venue, lovely people to meet and great tutors.

I’ve really enjoyed Beginner’s Bridge online. I’ve found it very convenient and a great way to learn bridge basics. The teachers (Anita and Liz) are just fantastic and their online lessons are well structured with helpful handouts and practice hands. As the lessons are online they are also recorded which means they can be replayed as a refresher whenever you want. I particularly enjoy the online weekly practice sessions with my bridge partners (and new friends). It is an opportunity to both practice what was learned in the lesson that week and also to have a good chat and catch up. The support provided by Kay, Gary, and the team also ensured that any technical or IT issue that arose was quickly resolved.

If you want to join the world of Bridge, this is the place to start. The classes are held in a convivial atmosphere, so it is not embarrassing to ask questions. Garry is an excellent teacher. He has the ability to explain fairly complex issues in a very clear manner, and is not fussed about repeating things if needs be.

If you want to learn to play Bridge I recommend this 6 week course. Liz is a great teacher – very clear and well organised lessons with a lovely, friendly manner which makes for very enjoyable lessons. The opportunity to attend Monday evening beginners play with an instructor is a great way of reinforcing what we have learnt with Liz in Saturday’s lesson.
